Sarah Beth Gleeson is a co founder of Baleena, a company that creates next-gen filtration devices that tackle microplastic fiber pollution in the fashion supply chain. Baleena's filter technology integrates into household washing machines, capturing harmful microplastic fibers during each cycle. The company is currently targeting young, environmentally-conscious consumers through direct-to-consumer hardware sales. Baleena's first corporate partner pilot is with apparel company Arc'teryx. Baleena will test its filters in Arc'teryx's repair and service centers where the company runs laundry 24/7. Baleena recently closed a $460,000 pre-seed round and has collaborated with organizations like Patagonia, Ocean Wise, 5 Gyres, Plastic Pollution Coalition and Big Blue Ocean Cleanup. Forbes.com
Sarah Beth Gleeson is a 2018 graduate of SCAPA Lafayette as a Ballet major. She also participated in choir. KY State NATS awards ceremony at Campbellsville University this weekend. Will D (SCAPA Voice) won 1st place in the high school men's classical division AND 1st place in high school men's musical theater division. Janeway H (SCAPA Voice) won first place in high school women's classical division. Bella W won second place high school women's musical theater division.
We are so proud of all who participated in the competition with their private studios: Emma A (SCAPA Voice), Annelise B (SCAPA Voice), Sienna J (SCAPA Voice). Congratulations to the Lafayette Choir students selected for the Kentucky Music Educators Association Senior High All-State Choirs. Students were selected after a competitive in-house audition and final audition process that includes singing a required piece with a quartet a cappella (without piano accompaniment), a solo, and individual sight-reading exercise. Lafayette Choir leads the state in sending participants to All-State Choirs. The performance event will culminate in a concert at the Kentucky Center for the Arts Whitney Hall in Louisville, on Friday, February 9, 2024. Two students scored a perfect 100 which means they were the top scorers in their voice part in the district. Five students scored a perfect 10 on sight-reading and another sixteen students scored 9.0-9.9.
