KMEA All-State Chorus

KMEA All-State honor choir is one of the most anticipated events for the Lafayette Choirs! It is an a great educational and fun event for students. Each year between 20 and 30 Lafayette students are accepted to the KMEA All-State Choirs.

Lafayette has between 60 and 70 students who audition for All-State.  We narrow this pool via an in-house audition utilizing the same format as district auditions.

Audition Format:
Each student auditions for a panel of four judges as part of a quartet on a required piece sung a cappella.  Each student will sing a selected section of this same piece as a solo.  Finally, each student will sing an eight measure sight-reading excerpt for a different judge.

District auditions are held in October of each year for the event held in February of each year. The choirs are held concurrently with the Kentucky Music Educators Association State Convention in Louisville in February.
